WALLED CITY 10 MILE ROAD RACE, DERRY

SATURDAY 2nd March 10am

START TIME 10am @ Running track, St Collumbs Park, Derry

We extend a warm welcome to all the runners taking part in the Walled City 10 Mile Road Race and wish you all success on the 2nd March. Please read these instructions carefully. They contain important information for the benefit of both the participants and the people of the city.

PACK COLLECTION: - Available at Foyle Arena between 4pm & 9pm on Friday 1st March and again on Saturday morning between 8am and 9.30am. Once again we would request that runners who live locally collect their pack on Friday evening if possible, as we have a very short window on Saturday morning. If you are collecting the packs on the Saturday morning we would advise early collection.

RACE TIME – PLEASE BE AWARE THAT RACE START TIME IS 10AM, NOT 10.30 AS PREVIOUSLY ADVERTISED.

RUNNERS: It is your responsibility to be fit and well on race day in order to enjoy your experience and not put yourself at any risk. If you feel unwell or have an injury, we would not recommend taking part on the day.

Follow the instructions from race officials and the PSNI at all times. This is for YOUR SAFETY.

Remember to wear your number on the FRONT of your running vest; also the chip will be attached to your number so if you have no NUMBER your time will not be recorded.

When the race starts the runners will be in a 'Runners Lane' along most of the course. Do not run outside these lanes unless instructed to do so by a steward/marshal or by the PSNI and only do so when it's safe to comply.

PARKING: No parking will be permitted on St. Columbs Road or Browning Drive. Traffic management plans will be in place with Limavady Road being closed from Dales Corner/Junction of King Street towards Caw Roundabout, please be aware there will be NO vehicle access from 9am on race day.  If travelling to the event by car you must come via Caw Roundabout where you will be directed to an appropriate space in either Foyle Arena, Oakgrove Primary School or St. Columbs park. Please follow instructions of the marshals on the day.

WATER STATIONS: Water stations will be set-up along the course at approximately 3.5 & 7 miles. We will provide 250ml race bottles with a flip top. You should arrive at the race well hydrated but remember not to take too much water.

BAGGAGE: A marquee will be in place at the start line. Runners are welcome to leave clothing in this marquee and collect when the race is completed to keep warm. Please note that WCM will not be held responsible for any missing items and therefore please ensure that all valuables are left in your vehicle or in a locker.

TOILETS, SHOWERS & LOCKERS: These facilities will be available in the Foyle Arena. Please use the toilets at this location before making your way to the start line as there will be very limited facilities at the start.

MEDICAL:  St. John Ambulance personnel will be on the course for your well-being. If your feel unwell or think you need medical attention, inform a steward/marshal or a member of St. John Ambulance. Remember, even if it is minor, i.e. blisters chaffing or cramps, they are there to help you.

FINISH: Our finish area is a secure zone with NO public access. When you cross the finish line your chip will have registered your time. Therefore, please do not stop and ask for your time; this will be posted online following the event. Upon finishing the race you will receive your medal and goody bag.

Have a great day; look after yourself and all your fellow runners. You have all made the same brave journey to get to the starting line. Hopefully within the next 13 weeks you can progress with your training and we may see you at the Marathon in June.

Good Luck
